David Leach established Lowerdown Pottery at Bovey Tracy after moving from St. Ives way back in 1955. Since David's death in 2005, his son Jeremy has continued potting at Lowerdown. This summer Jeremy will be joined by brother Simon, they plan to open up the pottery and show visitors traditional pottery being made.

The plan is to work under the banner of Leach Family Ceramics. The showroom will have selling displays of pots by Jeremy, Simon and also Johnny Leach who pots over at Muchelney in Somerset. There will also be a small exhibition of David Leach's work.

According to Simon, their objective is "to make good pots in our family pottery". The work will be of an individual nature rather than a range of standard ware. Although all 3 sons have their own individual styles evidence of their father's influence and indeed his father's influence, is clearly visible. The current plan is to open to the public from July 10th to September 10th 2006. If you are planning a visit please contact Simon Leach first, his email is simon@simonleachceramics.com. Simon is based in Valencia, Spain.
