Goldmark Gallery - Uppingham, Rutland - Spring 2009
This exhibition of the work of Japanese potter
Ken Matsuzaki is a joy to behold with forms and glazes not often
seen in the UK. He works in Mashiko, where in the 1970s he was
apprenticed to the recently departed Tatsuzo Shimaoka who in turn
was taught by Shoji Hamada. Both these great potters were Japanese
Living Treasures, Ken Matsuzaki will surely one day be bestowed
with this honour.
Ken Matsuzaki was present at the preview, where
visitors were treated to sushi and sake, a truly memorable experience.
For those of you who would like to see more of
Matsuzaki in action, the Goldmark Gallery have produced a DVD,
which is available from www.modernpots.com.
