Earth and Fire
is one of the highlights of the ceramics year here in England. Set in a country park
with 100 selected potters, an anagama kiln firing, and pottery
demonstrations. If it rains and it usually does, the Rufford Ceramic Centre houses a collection
of classic pots including work by Leach, Cardew, Rie et al and an exhibition hall which this year hosted an exhibition by Peter Beard.
From an enthusiast's point of view, Earth and
Fire is also about meeting old friends and making new ones.
I thoroughly enjoyed the 2007 event, it was good to see lots
of new potters and I thought the quality of work for sale was
excellent, well done everyone.
