View across the exhibition
Jack Doherty ex-chairman of the CPA, runs
the Leach Pottery down in St. Ives. Jack's roots are over
in Ireland and this major solo exhibition at the National
Craft Gallery of Ireland in Kilkenny brings him back to
where he started potting in the 1970s.
The exhibition shows a wide range of vessels in
both soda fired porcelain and stoneware. Large numbers of drinking
vessels are displayed in groups with dramatic effect and larger
individual pieces which are both useful and decorative complete
the exhibition. Included are a number of lidded pots which Jack
calls his pots for secrets.
